Ports of Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta - Monday 28 January, 2019
The Ports of Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta is held each year to celebrate the birthday of the City of Sails, with watercraft of all shapes and sizes putting to the water across the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf under paddle, sail and steam power.
The very first Auckland Regatta was held on the day the city was founded, 18 September 1840, and the 2019 regatta will mark the 179th edition of this much-loved event. Highlights include the spectacular tug boat racing and display which can be viewed from Queen's Wharf and Captain Cook Wharf, as well as classic yacht and launch racing, waka ama, dragonboats, remote controlled yachts and more.
