Watch Auckland’s Harbours come alive in one of the world’s biggest one-day regattas
Auckland’s Anniversary Day celebrates the founding of the province in 1840. And to commemorate the day, one of the world’s biggest one-day regattas will take place, with a glorious spectacle featuring the vintage superstars of the past and the high tech heralds of the future.
The Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta attracts a huge fleet of vessels including painstakingly restored classic yachts and launches, modern racing keelers and sailing dinghies, colourful and energetic fleets of dragon boats and waka ama, tiny yet mighty radio controlled yachts, and an armada of racing tugboats!
It’s a great day out for Auckland's mariners, residents and visitors, as thousands of spectators line the shores to see the maritime and trading history of our city in action under paddle, sail and steam power.
